The history of an object

When I feel stuck for a new dedign idea ,I like to rifle through my stash and see what inspires me. Today it was this beautiful vintage watch face with it's delicate engraving. But how to use it to it's full advantage ? After more digging I came upon this locket and the pretty little watch face found a home.
I am intrigued by the history of the vintage jewelry that I use in my work. Every piece has a story to tell if I am willing to listen and the watch face is no exception.  While looking at it under magnification I noticed a maker's mark. My inner Nancy Drew began to jump up and down ! Next I was searching the internet for more information . It seems the creator of this beauty began as a very high end watch company in 1890. This piece was made sometime between 1900 and 1930. Who wore it? Was it a cherished gift, a token of love? These are questions that cannot be answered but it's fun to create stories.  ♡
